Here's how I make Thin & Crispy Pizza AT HOME MY WAY! FIRST THINGS - FIRST: Place your oven rack on the lowest level in the oven. Preheat oven to 400 degrees while mixing up the crust. Quick Pizza Crust Recipe Crust Recipe: 1/2 cup warm/hot water (like hot bath water - "hot but no hurt") 1 teaspoon active yeast 1 teaspoon sugar (optional) 1 1/2 cup All Purpose flour (unbleached is best) 1 teaspoon table salt 2 teaspoons oil (I used olive oil.) Quick Pizza Crust - Save $$ - Make Pizza at Home!

Here's how I made QUICK PIZZA CRUST At Home My Way: RECIPES AT THE TOP -CHIT CHAT AT THE BOTTOM. QUICK PIZZA CRUST www.AtHomeMyWay.blogspot.com 1/2 cup warm/hot water (like hot bath water) 1 packet (or 2 teaspoons) active yeast (only use one yeast packet even if doubling this recipe) 1 teaspoon sugar (optional) 1 1/2 cup All Purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons oil (I used olive oil.) INSTRUCTIONS: NOTE:  You can double this recipe if you want a thicker crust.  If you double the recipe, you still only need to use the one packet of yeast.  No need to double the yeast measurement above.  Measure very warm water in a measuring cup.  Add yeast (and sugar, if using) to the water in the measuring cup.  Stir gently.  Let the yeast do its thing for about 5 minutes.  It will get cloudy and/or form some a little foam if the yeast is working.  Now add only 1 teaspoon of oil to the water/yeast mixture.  Stir. Measure flour i...

Remaking Leftovers into Something Wonderful "BBQ Chicken Pizza"!

Last night was pizza night at our house.  We were actually craving take out pizza on Tuesday (our favorite is Casey's) but - trying to be diligent about saving money, I quickly made our favorite pizza dough before leaving for work (Wednesday morning) and stuck the bowl of dough in the fridge.  I use the 5-Minute-A-Day dough which I blogged about here . Making pizza at our house involves dough, a can of plain tomato sauce spread over the dough and sprinkled with salt/pepper/garlic powder/oregano, and then topped with cheese and usually pepperoni. Tuesday we had crockpot BBQ chicken for supper so I had one lone piece of BBQ chicken in my fridge.  I have often seen BBQ chicken pizzas on menus and on Pinterest but had never really checked out what was on it.  BBQ chicken on pizza sauce never sounded very good to me.  Well... to my surprise most people don't use PIZZA SAUCE on a pizza with BBQ chicken on it.  Duh!!!  The recipes I found just involv...

Pizza Boats - Frugal and Fast!

Pizza boats are one of the easiest and most frugal meals you will ever put on the table.  They are also great to make with ingredients you can keep on hand, either in your freezer or in your pantry.  Pizza boats are made with only four basic ingredients:  bread, sauce, cheese & toppings.  You can keep bread rounds, hamburger or hot dog buns, sections of French bread, or an assortment of any of these in your freezer.  I usually keep either pizza sauce or those small, 8 ounce, cans of tomato sauce in my pantry.  I also usually keep either grated or blocks of mozzarella in my freezer since there are so many things I can do with it.  Pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, olives, all are optional.  Great if you have some but not required. Last night I made pizza boats and garlic cheese rounds for supper along with a salad.  It was great, cheap, and better yet, fast! This recipe is really not a recipe.  It's just using some stuff you ma...

Easy Pizza Sauce

Yesterday morning I mixed up a batch of 5 Minute a Day dough for my fridge before I left for work - planning to make Homemade Pizza for supper.  When we got home we ran out to my husband's mom's house for a little visit so we got home a little later than we usually do.  We could have grabbed a bite to eat somewhere but just knowing that delicious dough was in the refrigerator spurred me on to stay with the plan and make homemade pizza.  Once you try this dough for crust and make a pizza with it, pizzaria restaurants just don't seem as wonderful as they once have... because this pizza is just THE PIZZA!  Sometimes I use store bought, jarred pizza sauce but unless I have several people to feed I tend to open the jar, make a pizza for me and Doug, and leave the rest languishing in the fridge to mold.  I hate being so wasteful!  I discovered not too long ago when I was making do instead of running to the store , that a cheapy little can of tomato sa...

Pinto Bean Pizza (Mexican Pizza)

Last night was bowling night at my house.  Remember when that meant Girls Night?  When we used to make fun things like Homemade Stirfry or K inda Empanadas ?  Well, since the girls have left the nest, I was home alone for bowling night.  But, I had a plan!  I wanted to get some laundry done, build a fire in the woodstove and kick back with a little TV.  But, what to have for supper?  For one person?  Hmmmm... Since I've been really trying to eat out of the pantry and not go to the store OR eat out, I knew I wanted to find something to make that I already had the ingredients for.  And, since I was the only one eating it could be a recipe that I wanted to try but wasn't sure how safe it would be.   I found a great recipe over at Lynn's Kitchen Adventures .  Lynn ALWAYS makes good stuff! I can always depend on her recipes to be sure fire!   A side note here, I have discovered that I tend to be a "recipe free" cook.  I...
