Sweet & Smoky BBQ Sauce

I had one of those moments the other night with hamburgers and chicken on the grill and found myself with NO BBQ sauce.  Ugh! I think it was even a Monday!  Bah! I decided my hand at making some since I prefer my burgers and chicken heavily sauced.  Sometimes my hubby likes my homemade stuff and sometimes he is not having it, he wants store bought.   Luckily for both of us, he loved this sauce!!  I tweaked a recipe I found to produce my version of this sweet & smokey sauce.  Our chicken and burgers were nearly finished so all I could do was stir it up and use it.  I'm sure it would be best if you had time to simmer it for a little while, but if you don't - no worries!  Just mix it up and use it. BBQ sauce is so expensive.  Why buy it when you can make it, right?  This sauce is smooth, sweet, and just delicious!  It tastes so much better and fresh compared to bottled sauce.  Doug agreed that I needed to post th...

Frozen French Fries - Loaded - Cooked on the Grill - WHAT?

Rebecca wanted to try a recipe for making loaded (frozen) french fries on the grill the other night.  These turned out WONDERFUL so I had to put them on my blog.  We served them with shish kabobs, which we also made on the grill.  We often bake our french fries.  We hardly ever fry anything anymore so if we have crinkle cut fries, I usually bake them on a cookie sheet.  Our temps here in mid Missouri have been approaching 90 so I really wanted to keep all of the cooking outside if possible. Cooking frozen french fries on the barbecue grill sounded a little far fetched.  I couldn't imagine it (but it was on Pinterest so it had to work LOL)!  My fear was that they wouldn't get done at all ...but when your kid gets excited about cooking something and wants to do it all HERSELF, who am I to argue?  Not me!  Not only did these loaded fries get done, they were divine smothered in cheese, bacon, and green onions.  We topped that already ...

Smoked Pork and Homemade Honey-Mustard BBQ Sauce

We like to smoke meat when we are having very many people over.  This way the meat cooks itself and you aren't slaving to the hot grill while trying to visit with your company.  Leftovers freeze beautifully and you can cook up a bunch of meat, wrap each hunk in foil, put in freezer bags and have some for later.  We use our smoker even on the coldest winter days (in Missouri Brrr!).  Most always, I whip up this easy rub and it seems to really season the meat nicely.  I use this rub on turkey, chicken, pork, and even briskit.  People will think you are a pro when they taste smoked pork loin with this wonderful rub.  Often, I make this homemade honey-mustard bbq sauce.  I found these two recipes in SOUTHERN LIVING magazine.  Enough said, huh?  I always find great recipes in that magazine.  I have modified the original recipe to suit my tastes.  The original recipe had cinnamon (of all things) in the rub, and I'm just not read...

Crockpot Pulled Pork with Easy Homemade Tangy BBQ Sauce

Our daughter was at a summer party in a rural small town nearby and tried some pulled BBQ pork which she raved about. She texted and begged the poor guy who brought the stuff to give her the recipe but he claimed it was an old family recipe and he couldn't give it up. Luckily I found a recipe that we love and we have been making it ever since! Here's how we make Crockpot Pulled Pork with Homemade Easy Tangy BBQ Sauce AT HOME MY WAY: CROCKPOT PULLED PORK WITH TANGY BBQ SAUCE Meat: Pork loin ( We don't really like pork butt roasts and prefer pork loins because we enjoy leaner cuts of meat  at our house but you can use whatever you prefer here. )  Spices for cooking the meat: 1 Tablespoon paprika 1 Tablespoon garlic powder 1 Tablespoon onion powder salt/pepper Tangy BBQ Sauce (I double this recipe): 1 cup ketchup 3 Tablespoons brown sugar 3 Tablespoons cider vinegar 2 Tablespoon worcestershire sauce 1 Tablespoon spicy brown mustard 1/4 teaspoon pepper Instructions: ...
