Making Homemade Stromboli (Hot Pockets) - LEFTOVERS-FREEZER FOOD-YUMMY!

Stromboli are an American version of calzones that have the addition of some sauce inside.  They are  typically made with pizza  dough  and filled with meats, cheeses, and other ingredients.   " Hot Pockets" are overpriced little freezer foods found at your favorite grocery store.  Yes-they are easy and always sound good but I'm hungry as soon as I finish the thing!  Making them at home is a winner way to save money and a delicious way to eat!  Made at home, they are inexpensive, are made with a super easy homemade dough with fillings of your choice, and are just as easy to reheat as the store bought version!     Recipes at the top:  Chit Chat at the bottom! Super Easy - Crockpot Salisbury Steak At Home My Way

RECIPES AT THE TOP - CHIT CHAT AT THE BOTTOM How do you turn frozen hamburger patties into a cozy, meat & potatoes sit-down supper?    Here's how I make EASY CROCKPOT SALISBURY STEAK at home my way: Easy Crockpot Salisbury Steak Hand pattied, FROZEN hamburger patties (I just pat some decent (80/20) ground beef into patties, and store individually in my freezer in baggies.  You could also freeze them and stack with wax paper in between - you do need to be able to get them apart.) 1 package cheap brown gravy mix (mine came from Aldi) 2 cups water  Salt/pepper/onion powder Optional:  Sliced/peeled potatoes (lengthwise), carrots, whatever vegetables you like.  This would be great with some mushrooms as well! Gravy Thickener (for after you get home, but before you eat): 3/4 cup COLD water 3 heaping Tablespoons flour INSTRUCTIONS: Place frozen hamburger patties in your crockpot (however many you want).   Salt & pepper ...

The BEST Homemade Waffles!

Trying to get myself a little more organized these days with my cooking and so as not to eat out - hopefully increasing the variety of foods I get to eat from home (avoiding donut shops, etc....), I made these Homemade Waffles on Friday to put in my freezer.  They are FANTASTIC! I've made homemade waffles in the past.  Remember my Pumpkin Waffles ?  Other than the pumpkin waffles which are amazing, I haven't been super blown over by plain waffles after they've been frozen.  Of course, if you drown them in syrup, it doesn't really matter, but I was looking for some really good waffles.  I grew up eating Toaster Waffles (Leggo my Eggo!)  These are just that good!!  YUM! I made a small batch (half of this recipe) but will be making the whole recipe next time.  They are fantastic and I want to be filling up my freezer with these babies. Of course, to me waffles should be crisp so I made mine in a waffle iron and then proceeded to toast them ...

Breakfast Burritos - Eat now OR freeze for later!

I typically am a sweet breakfast eater.  I usually have stuff like  blueberry muffins , chocolate chip baked oatmeal , granola as cold cereal , or donuts (LOL) but this weekend I tried something different (for me).   I've been reading about breakfast burritos in many of my favorite blogs.  There are lots of variations to pick.  Some use potatoes, some use sausage, all use eggs and sometimes cheese. One of the blogs I was reading suggested just using whatever you want in there with the eggs, including black beans and vegetables.  Another "duh" moment for me. Sounded like a great idea!   I really wanted to spend the extra long weekend getting some food prepped for our lunches and breakfasts. Breakfast burritos sounded like a great option for any meal and especially good for keeping in the freezer as my own "fast food". I was thrilled with my breakfast burritos!  I don't often eat scrambled eggs, although I don't dislike them as long as the...

Freezer Food - Meatloaf Singles & Other Food Gifts For New Parents

Pinterest has been hot and heavy lately with freezer food recipes; freezer crockpot meals, cooking once for eating twice, meal plan starters, freezing muffins, cookie dough, etc..  I have been anxious to jump on the band wagon and try my own hand at freezer food. Since my niece and her husband welcomed baby #2 last week, I wanted to take something special to them (as a form of bribery for letting me hold the little jewel LOL)!  I could think of no better gift to take than some homemade, ready-to-cook meals.  Who doesn't like homemade food?  And I figured my niece and her hubby have LOTS more important things to do than cook. I also included a written list of the items I made for their freezer and the cooking instructions for each item.  I didn't want them to forget something yummy and I thought the list could be put on the fridge for easy reference. I did go a little crazy once I got started!  The only mistake I made was that I didn't make anythin...
