Banana Pudding Rice Krispie Treats

Last night I made Homemade Pizza for supper.  It was so wonderful!  I also tried out a new recipe that I found at the Sweet Southern Blue blog for Banana Pudding Rice Krispie Treats.   WHAT????  I know that sounds like a surprising combination.  I couldn't discover a wonderful snack idea like that without giving it a try.  You see, I love everything banana, the "real" banana recipes like Banana Nut Bread Baked Oatmeal, or plain muffins with mashed banana, Perfect Pancakes with bananas or even Tin Can Banana Bread, but also any "fake tasting" banana treats like Laffy Taffy or Banana Moon Pies.  Yes... I do LOVE those huge-a-mongo triple decker Banana Moon Pies!

These treats tasted very similar to Banana Moon Pies.  They were easy to make and a fun snack to offer when you are looking for something different.  I think it also might be fun to try other pudding mixes combined with rice krispie snacks.

*Disclaimer:  My picture is HORRIBLE!  The picture at the Sweet Southern Blue blog is so beautiful!  I almost feel embarrassed to post my picture but "it's all I've got."  So, click over to the Sweet Southern Blue blog so you can truly see what a beautiful blog picture looks like! It is inspiring!  It makes this snack look as delicious as is really is.

Here's how I made Banana Pudding Rice Krispie Treats AT HOME MY WAY:

Banana Pudding Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients:ļ»æ
  • 6 cup Rice Krispies
  • 1/4 cup of butter or margarine
  • 10 oz bag mini marshmallows
  • 1 small box of banana cream instant pudding mix
Instructions:

Place 1/4 cup of butter/margarine in a large/med microwave proof dish.  Micro just until the marg/butter is all melted.  Add the entire 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows.  Micro again until all the marshmallows are either melted or are so enlarged that they just need a stir to be melted.  Blend well until smooth.  Dump the box of banana cream instant pudding mix into the marg/butter/melted marshmallow mixture.  Stir until all is well blended.  Add in the 6 cups of rice krispie cereal (or generic is fine).  Stir as best as you can.  (I never like the stirring part of making rice krispie snacks.)

Dump into a buttered 9 x 13 pan (or a little smaller) and press with the bottom a small cup that has been buttered until all flat. (That's my tip for flattening them without getting your hands sticky.)  OK.  Let cool a little bit and they're ready!

  1. Oh my, another banana lover. I'm glad you enjoyed the banana rice krispies recipe. I just made strawberry ones and used strawberry pudding and strawberry marshmallows.
I enjoyed reading your post about loving anything banana. I love, love, love anything banana including the banana taffy you mentioned. They are my favorite. The funny thing is that I don't like bananas. I think it's a texture thing.

Best Dill Pickles EVER! (Just like Claussen) (Easy - no canning!)

Do you want to make the best, easiest homemade dill pickles in the world?   I found a recipe for dill pickles that tastes JUST LIKE Claussen refrigerator pickles.  Those are the best anyway, right?  That crunch, the dill and the garlic... and oh yea , the crunch!  This recipe is super easy because you  don't have to process these pickles which means there is no canning needed.   You just fill a gallon jar (we use an old pickle jar) with fresh cucumbers and dill heads, and then pour over the cooled liquids/seasonings.   Let it sit on the counter for three days, and then refrigerate.  After that, the pickle eating begins. They are supposed to keep for one year like that in the fridge, without canning.  (We let them sit for the 3 days, then refrigerated them overnight before opening the jar for the much anticipated first taste. Did they taste like Claussen?  YOU BET YOUR PRETTY PICKLE THEY DID!  We were all SO ex...

Buttermilk Biscuits - Just like Cracker Barrel!

RECIPES AT THE TOP - CHIT CHAT AT THE BOTTOM! Here's how we make Buttermilk Biscuits AT HOME MY WAY: Buttermilk Biscuits (just like Cracker Barrel) (Makes about 8 biscuits.) PRINTABLE RECIPE HERE Ingredients: 2 cups SELF RISING flour  (self rising flour gives the perfect taste to homemade biscuits) 1/3 cup shortening  (cold real butter also works here) 1 1/4 cup buttermilk*  *NOTE:  (If using regular milk combined with lemon juice vinegar referenced below, you only need 1 cup of milk because thinner regular milk uses less by volume than the thick real buttermilk.) Directions: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. (Make sure your flour is "fluffed" not straight from the bag;  Dump it in a larger container and stir using up and down motion to fluff it up a little bit-THEN measure out 2 cups).  Measure 2 cups SELF RISING flour into a mixing bowl.  Add shortening and cut it until small and crumbly. A fork works fine for this purpose ...
